Pastoral Care

Attention to the Spiritual, Physical, & Emotional Needs Of Each Patient

The Pastoral Care Department at Uniontown Hospital believes complete care includes attention to the spiritual, as well as the physical and emotional needs of each patient and visitor.

The single goal of pastoral care is to support people attempting to cope with life-altering health care events and needs. Our pastoral/lay pastor volunteers are available for the primary purpose of administering to the needs of patients, their families and the hospital staff.

Our pastoral/lay pastor volunteers foster spiritual wholeness and are here to provide one-on-one conversation, or listen to you and your loved ones with compassion and understanding. They make no assumptions about your personal convictions.

They help sort through feelings and concerns that surface during a hospital stay and address fears, disappointing diagnoses, decisions, stress and unresolved feelings.

Our Pastoral volunteers are available to serve you through:

  • Visiting and prayer
  • Encouragement and comfort
  • Offering communion, baptism and anointing of the sick
  • Discussing concerns about procedures or decisions
  • Discussing with you the meaning and effects of advance directives
  • Reading scripture or other important texts with you

Whatever you are feeling, we can be present to listen to concerns. Pastors/lay pastors support patients, families, loved ones and staff through emotional and spiritual journeys with complete confidentiality.

Thank you all for making a healthy difference in the community we serve!
