The Intensive Care Unit at Uniontown Hospital offers a 16-bed, high-tech unit where patients receive constant, specialized care from a team of experts including physicians, professional registered nurses, cardiopulmonary therapists, lab technicians, physical therapists and radiology technicians.
Families are encouraged to visit to provide emotional support and to participate in patient-care decisions. It's a good idea to designate one or two family members to assist in the exchange of patient information.
Our Intensive Care Unit is dedicated to providing comprehensive, continuous care for patients who are critically ill or medically unstable. Often these patients are recovering from cardiac arrest, extensive surgeries or cardiac procedures. They may require mechanical ventilation or other specialized care.
We are equipped with a computerized system that allows us to rapidly disseminate information regarding medical records to ensure the best care as fast as possible. We also employ an intensivist, a medical doctor who specializes in managing the treatment of patients in our ICU.
If you have a loved one in our ICU, we hope you can take some comfort in the knowledge that we offer advanced, personal care in a conscientious manner.
Our Telemetry Care Unit at Uniontown Hospital is available for patients who require one level of care below that of our ICU.
This 28-private bed unit typically cares for patients with cardiac conditions such as:
- Intermittent Coronary Syndrome
- Post-cardiac catheterization
- Other illnesses requiring specialized cardiac monitoring
Additionally, our Telemetry Care Unit provides advanced stroke care for patients suffering stroke. All registered nurses in our Telemetry Care Unit are ACLS/CPR/Critical Care/NIH Stroke Scale certified.
Visiting hours are flexible from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., depending on the patient's medical status.
The Intensive Care Unit is located on the first floor of Uniontown Hospital.
The Telemetry Care Unit is located on the third floor of Uniontown Hospital.
